Dry meadows on Vetrnik and Oslica mountains are rare semi-natural habitat - the living space that in Europe is almoust extinct. In the European Union such special natural habitats are conserved within Natura 2000 - the network of special protected areas and special areas of conservation from Canarian islands to Crete, from Sicilly to the northern areas in Finland.
